Sony has released a new system software update for the PS3. The new firmware doesn't introduce any new features, however.
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced today (via the official PlayStation blog) that the PlayStation 3 has been given another system software update, bringing it to version 2.42.
This follows a recent update that finally brought features such as in-game XMB access and a Trophy system for a number of PS3 titles.
According to Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, the 2.42 update simply "improves the playback quality of some PlayStation 3 and PlayStation format software."
