Activision Blizzard may be the new 800-lb gorilla, but it doesn't bug EA, says EA Games boss Frank Gibeau, who even says he "loves" Call of Duty and WoW.

With the Activision Blizzard merger official and the companies' combined revenues already outstripping those of EA in the respective June quarters, one might think that having a new powerhouse in the industry might get under EA's skin. Frank Gibeau, head of EA Games, says that's not the case, however.

Speaking to GameDaily BIZ during the recent E3 summit, Gibeau commented, "I don't wake up in the morning thinking about Activision. I wake up thinking about how to make great games and build hits. The fact Activision is out there with Ubisoft and WBIE and Disney and other competitors, they're just one of the pack."

He even admitted that he plays their games and "loves" Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.

He continued, "When we get into a competitive situation, it is certainly a situation where it's all out, no prisoners taken kind of thing. But really, in our meetings, we don't dwell on it. We have our own destiny in our hands. We've got a lot of different types of businesses going with mobile and casual and different things. The focus on Activision just isn't there. What they do and they report we take note of, and what we can learn from we take note of, and where we see opportunity we take note of, but again I wouldn't characterize it as a Red Sox/Yankees, dividing families, vitriolic situation."

Be sure to check out more from Gibeau in the full interview, where he talks about the console wars, Wii MotionPlus, Xbox Live Avatars, mergers and acquisitions and other topics.
