While the PC has supported remote access functionality for quite some time, the PC must be left on at all times -- even when it isn't being used. One new technology touted by Intel plans to bring remote access to PCs that are running in sleep mode. Dubbed "Remote Wake", the technology is supported by select Intel chipsets and should be available in a month. From CNET:
The technology will also reportedly allow PCs that use Internet-based phones services to be remotely activated to receive calls. Remote Wake could also allow consumers using a Web-enabled phone or a laptop connected to the Internet to activate their PCs and retrieve files, according to the report.
