Along with the announcement that Grasshopper Manufacture has joined the EA partner program, Electronic Arts announced one more surprise partner today: Epic Games. Specifically, Polish studio People Can Fly, the creators of the Painkiller games, will be working on a new intellectual property on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC for their EA debut.

Epic acquired a majority interest in People Can Fly a year ago. In addition to Painkiller, their previous work includes helping Epic with the PC port of Gears of War. Epic Games vice president Mark Rein explained why they made this deal: "EA Partners gives independent developers like Epic the muscle of a global publisher like EA, along with the focus and flexibility of a smaller team committed to working with our individual needs."
