AMD roadmap suggests that Deneb has been pushed back to January 8th 2009.

For months now AMD has insisted that their 45-nm manufacturing process is on track and that we'd see the first 45-nm Phenom CPUs based on AMD's "Deneb" core by the end of this year. However this leaked AMD roadmap on chw.net suggests that Deneb has been pushed back to January 8th 2009, with AMD providing two SKUs at launch, a 3.0GHz part and a 2.8GHz chip, both with 125W TDPs.

The roadmap has a few other nuggets of info in addition to Deneb. Coming on October 8th will be a new Phenom X3 8850 clocked at 2.5GHz, as well as a new Athlon X2 5050e with a 45W TDP and 2.6GHz clock. Then in November we'll see AMD unleash a new Athlon 2650e running at 1.6GHz and boasting a 15W TDP to take on Intel's Atom CPU, and a dual-core X2 3250e running at 1.5GHz with a 22W TDP to take on Intel's upcoming dual-core Atom.

Finally in December the leaked AMD roadmap hints at a Black Edition Phenom X3 8850. This chip sports the same 95W TDP as existing X3 CPUs, only its clock multiplier will be unlocked for enhanced overclocking.

If this roadmap is indeed accurate and Deneb has been pushed back to 2009, this would mark yet another delay for AMD, who has had problems sticking to their guidance when it comes to dates. Fortunately it isn't a major delay, but AMD will obviously be missing out entirely on the holiday shopping season, which is a very popular time for many enthusiasts to upgrade.
