With AMD's flagship 2.6GHz Phenom CPU using the 9950 designation, obviously AMD is running out of model numbers for their upcoming 45-nm Deneb CPUs, set to launch in Q4'08. According to Chinese site Expreview AMD plans to move to five digits for their upcoming 45-nm CPUs, starting with the 3.0GHz Phenom X4 20550 and 2.8GHz 20350 later this year. Both of these chips will rely on AMD's existing Socket AM2+ infrastructure with DDR2-1066 memory support.
Beginning in Q1'09, we'll see the arrival of the first AM3 Deneb CPUs. The article doesn't mention specific model numbers, but they do list 2.8GHz and 2.6GHz parts arriving with DDR3-1333 support, with a 3.0GHz part arriving in Q2'09. Also launching in Q3 will be the first 45-nm triple-core Phenom parts. Expreview also mentions that all Deneb production will shift to AM3 in Q2'09; if true the first wave of AM2+ Deneb processors will have an awfully short lifespan of just a handful of months.
