As it so happens, I'm in the market for some new shoes. I was looking at something comfortable like Sketchers, but I find that I may have to instead give Nike my business now:
We recently learned that Nike has released this pair of Nike Air Classic BW's which feature inspirations from the old skool Nintendo game console. The design makes reference of everything from the control pad to the start / select buttons. They sport a two toned grey upper with red accents, as well as the use of mesh on the top half for ventilation purposes. They are now available at select Nike accounts. -- KicksOnFire.com
...select Nike accounts? What the hell does that mean?
Anyway, these look nice. You can't even really tell they're NES-styled unless you get a good up-close look at them, but once you see it, it's there. Kind of like those stupid pictures where you stare for awhile and eventually see a balloon or a unicorn or something. I could never get those to work... ok, so bad example.
Interesting name, "NES Air Max." I think I'd have preferred something like "NES Air Advantage," but that's ok, I still have my NES Max controller, too. Just so long as we aren't looking at the "NES Air U-Force" or something, it's all good.
If you're better clued-in to shoe culture than I am, then please share how one might find these at a "select Nike account" in the comments.
