Sales for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 spiked in the latest Japan retail figures. The hardware ranked No. 3 in overall sales.
Sony this week issued PS3 firmware update v2.52. The update is said to improve the playback quality of some PS3 format software and fix a text entry issue.
Microsoft this week said that Halo Wars for the Xbox 360 will be released to in Feb. 2009. The title will be sold in standard and limited edition SKUs.
Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 ranked No. 6 in Japan sales after a seven week sales streak over the PS3.
Nintendo Co.'s Wii ranked as the No. 4 hardware in Japan sales this week. It did not rank any titles in the top 10 sales in the period.
The Nintendo DSi ranked as the No. 1 hardware in Japan on debut to beat the PSP handheld. The DSi includes a built-in camera and music playback functionality.
