We may not know exactly when Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be released, but thanks to Nintendo Everything’s translation of an unnamed Spanish-language magazine preview (via Kotaku), we do have a bevy on new details on the game -- including more on what to expect from its already controversial drug dealing aspects.
According to the info, part of the drug dealing gameplay in Chinatown Wars will involve controlling the stock of drugs in the city, with players buying them from one neighborhood and selling them in another. It’s described as a "good way to make money," and players are also given a map that shows what people are demanding, and what prices they’re willing to pay. It all sounds a lot like... well, like a microcosm of supply and demand economics, really.
Additionally, this same preview also revealed that Chinatown War’s map will be almost as big as Grand Theft Auto 4’s (shown above), featuring each of that game’s boroughs except for the New Jersey-themed Alderney on the left. Other details reported are a GPS and PDA similar to Grand Theft Auto 4’s (mark a point on the GPS on the touch screen to get the quickest legal route to your destination), and the ability to hail cabs in the game. "So what," you say? Yeah, you could hail cabs in past GTA games, but this time you whistle into the DS microphone to do so. Now that’s innovation! Just try not to look like a fool doing it on the bus.
