PS3 Trophies Mandatory Starting January 2009

Trophies are great in PS3 games that include them, and now Sony is going to make it a requisite on all PS3 games at the beginning of next year.
VideoGamer.com is reporting that Sony is making the inclusion of Trophy's mandatory in all PS3 titles. This news apparently stems from a tip coming from within the U.K. game industry. A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe rep confirmed the information to VideoGamer.com, saying, "Yes from Jan 09 all games must have trophies."
Trophies were added to the PS3 with the 2.40 software patch in July 2008. While Sony was applauded for releasing an equivalent to Microsoft's achievements on the Xbox 360, support for the program has been sporadic, with only a handful of older games being patched to include the feature so far.
