Microsoft Game Studios announced today that Lionhead's critically acclaimed RPG Fable II managed to sell 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first two weeks, making it the fastest selling RPG on the Xbox 360. In the U.S. alone, the game sold nearly 800K units, dominating the NPD chart for October.
Now all those gamers that picked up Fable II will have an opportunity to extend the experience with new downloadable content scheduled for release in mid-December. The Knothole Island downloadable content pack features a remote island that is dying. "Its golden sands and lush vegetation are covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine," described Lionhead.
The content pack will cost 800 MS Points to download. A free downloadable pack will also be made available to enable gamers to engage in co-op play on Knothole Island. Both co-op players are required to have first downloaded the premium content pack. Fans who can't get enough of Fable II will also be able to purchase a new Albion dashboard theme (250 MS Points) for the New Xbox Experience.
