While today ("Cyber Monday") is supposed to be one of the biggest online shopping days of the year, there were plenty of people looking for web sales on Black Friday as well. And it would seem that many of these people were searching for Nintendo's Wii and Wii Fit.
Black Friday sales overall were up three percent from 2007, according to initial estimates from Shoppertrak RCT, which said the U.S. had total sales of $10.6 billion. Online sales in particular were on the rise, with traffic up 11 percent according to comparison shopping site PriceGrabber.com.
PriceGrabber and eBay said that the Wii was the most searched-for product on both sites. On eBay that was followed by Wii Fit, while on PriceGrabber Wii Fit took fifth place. On eBay consumers purchased 3,171 Wiis at an average selling price of $349. Wii Fit sold 1,059 units at an average selling price of $140.
