Guitar Hero World Tour Wii Instruments Will Work on Rock Band 2

 

 

You Wii owners that shelled out the big bucks for Guitar Hero World Tour's instrument bundle may have been diligently trying to make more room in your house or apartment for another set of plastic accessories when Rock Band 2 hits Nintendo's console sometime in the next few months, and if this is the case, you can stop rearranging your living space, according to an IGN update on the Harmonix-developed game. 

We were also very pleased to find that peripherals for both Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour worked with Rock Band 2 -- especially because we don't yet have the Rock Band 2 instruments for the Wii. -- IGN

I'm not quite sure if this is Activision or Electronic Arts going the extra mile to make sure the GHWT instruments were compatible with Rock Band 2, but either way it's good news all around for Wii owners. I'm no techie, but I wouldn't have thought much could be done to resolve this issue since the GH guitars require the Wii Remote to be inserted into the peripherals, while the RB axes and drums can be used Wii Remote-free.
