Sony Claims God of War 3 is Last in the Franchise

The God of War series is one of Sony’s most successful franchises, both critically and commercially, so would they really end at number three? Apparently so, according to a report from Shacknews. God of War 3 will be "the last installment of the multi-million unit franchise," claimed Sony.

Although the latest trailer revealed that the end may be nigh for Kratos (and especially for his enemies), the odds of it realistically happening with no spin-offs of any kind are highly unlikely. There’s simply too much money to be made in an ongoing franchise, and since Sony has lost historically exclusive franchises left and right, can they really afford to close the book on God of War?
