In a traditional year-end poll, Japanese hardcore gaming magazine Famitsu asked its readers and select retailers to rank the top gaming news stories of 2008.

In a traditional year-end poll, Japanese hardcore gaming magazine Famitsu asked its readers and select retailers to rank the top gaming news stories of 2008. The results are printed as the top story in this week’s issue of the magazine, and are as follows:

 

1. The simultaneous announcement of Dragon Quest X for Wii and Dragon Quest IX’s release date -- 12/10/2008

2. The release of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and the social phenomenon it caused -- 3/27/2008
