Disappointing news for fans of Harry Potter – the spectacled boy wizard apparently won’t be making the transition to the LEGO format in 2009 as previously rumoured.
Reports on the development of a LEGO adaptation of the popular franchise originally materialised early last month, though Warner Bros neglected to confirm or deny the game’s existence.
However, Eurogamer reports that a “senior source” from developer Traveller’s Tales has confirmed that a LEGO title based on Potter’s magical endeavours at Hogwarts will in fact not see the light of day this year. Whether or not this means the game will show up later down the road remains to be seen.
Despite this, the company has revealed that a new LEGO title will be released some time this year, commenting, “There will be a Lego game in 2009. And I think it’s okay to say that you’ll be a bit surprised.”
Whispers among the folk at Eurogamer reckon it’ll turn out to be a new instalment in the LEGO Indiana Jones series, though an official announcement has yet to be made.
