Acacia Research Group today released the results of a study on 3D content creation tools, which naturally are heavily utilized in the creation of today's video games. The research says that spending on 3D animation and modeling tools will grow an average of 6.2 percent over the next five years, from $338.3 million this year to $429.7 million in 2014. The study predicts that while film and gaming 3D modeling markets will eventually become saturated, designers for other industries will provide much of the growth as they look to alleviate prototyping costs.
"3D content creation tool makers will be rewarded with new spending in segments where cost-cutting is the only means of surviving in today's market," said Christine Arrington, Senior Analyst at Acacia Research Group. "Applications such as pre-visualization, digital prototyping, and virtual locations will allow many industries to save time and money in the product design process."
