Alright, everyone, take yourself one grain of salt in hand. Ready? Good, here we go.
QJ.net is reporting that according to a "tip-off," Nintendo is working on a "double-USB hard drive" for their Wii console that it will attach to the back of the console and is designed to look like a natural part of it.
However, the Wii would require a firmware update to use it, so there's the bad news for you homebrew types out there. But on the plus side, everything you buy from the Wii Shop Channel can be transferred to the unit, which is said to come in either 32GB or 64GB models.
No release date is set, of course, and this is still just a rumor. A timely one, at that, as just last night my wife and I were lamenting another "fridge shift" as we had to get Super Metroid out of the way to make room for Donkey Kong Country.
The only problem is the "double-USB" part; the Wii only has two slots to begin with, and it would kind of suck to lose them both to this... unless the hard drive had its own USB ports, that is.
