And Japanese student-made DS games can be pretty weird.

Nintendo announced earlier this week that it would be releasing a set of downloadable DS games for free across Japan throughout March and April. The titles, available at DS download kiosks located in game shops throughout Japan, were originally created by game-writing students that attended the 2008 Nintendo Game Seminar, a 10-month-long course that's produced some pretty damn strange DS and GBA games in the past.

Here is the lineup Nintendo's distributing across Japan this year, along with the dates they'll be available for download:

- Fu Fu Kirarin (3/12 to 3/25), a shooting game where you blow into the DS microphone to fire stars are enemies up in the sky.

- Re: Koetist (3/26 to 4/8), a sort of audio version of Mad Libs where you're asked to record lines into the mike, then marvel at yourself as the game futzes around with your voice and plays humorous movie scenes based off it.

- Ugo Ugo Trinity (4/9 to 4/22), a set of minigames based on you doing assorted poses and other wacky actions.

- Kao Sapiens (4/23 to 5/6), an interactive toy that lets you create amusing faces out of a variety of parts, then screw around with them in funny ways.

These Nintendo Game Seminar titles have yet to see official distribution outside of Japan, although heaven knows we could always use some more wacky Japanese minigames.
