According to superannuation, David Kim today let slip that Call of Duty 7 is under development. The senior animator mentioned in his LinkedIn profile that he and Treyarch were working on the seventh title in the series. He has since edited his profile to remove any specific reference to Call of Duty 7.

While no specific announcement of a Call of Duty 7 has been made by Activision, its presence is highly likely, given their stated goal of Treyarch and Infinity Ward each releasing games in the series during alternating years. Rumors have suggested that the next Call of Duty from Treyarch will be set during the Vietnam War, given corresponding reports of music that Activision has recently licensed. Given the gritty take on World War II in Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War, showing all of the ambivalence and violence of war, a Vietnam War era game would seem like a logical progression.
