While PC software retail sales might not be the greatest, people are still going out to buy PCs because they are multifunction devices.
Today, Jon Peddie Research (JPR) saw encouraging signs for the PC gaming industry, despite economic concerns. The hardware market is predicted to drop seven percent from $20 billion to $18.6 billion, due to reduced spending and lowering cost of hardware. That said, JPR estimates that 2009 PC hardware sales will be greater than all gaming consoles combined by almost $2 billion.
Furthermore, JPR esimates that PC hardware spending will increase to $23.9 billion by 2010, $28.9 billion by 2011 and $30.6 billion by 2012.
