Many questioned Activision’s move this past May when they announced they were dropping out of the Entertainment Software Association. There was a buffet of speculation to go around, but thankfully for our stomachs, Activision cleared the air on the matter when Ben Fritz from Variety’s game blog The Cut Scene, caught up with Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.
Kotick explains the move was in part of wanting some "time off" due to the companies’ latest merger. "With the combined companies, the dues went up enough that I said for it to make sense [to spend that money], we have to make a strategic plan," he said. "We don’t have that because nobody owns it for us right now."
When asked if his company will rejoin the ESA once they get everything figured out, Kotick responded, "We’ll consider it."
