E3: PSN Video Service Launched for PS3/PSP

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced today that a new video delivery service will be launching on PlayStation Network. Over 300 movies and 1,200 TV episodes from studios such as 20th Century Fox, MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Entertainment will be available to rent and purchase in standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD). The service will launch and be accessible this evening.
"PlayStation Network's video delivery service capitalizes on the superior value and entertainment potential of PS3 and PSP -- not only for gaming enthusiasts, but also for the millions of consumers looking to buy the best, most versatile solution for their home entertainment system," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA. "The collaboration of Sony's film, TV and entertainment business units, coupled with our hardware and content offerings, provide consumers with entertainment experiences unlike any on the market."
Consumers can rent movies for prices ranging from $2.99 to $5.99 and purchase movies for $9.99 to $14.99. Users have 14 days to watch rentals and can watch movies for 24 hours after playback has started. All purchases and rentals can also be transferred from the PS3 to a PSP.
